LC calls for insurance payable in favor abc co. Insurance certificate presented showing consignee abc co.
The clause payable in favor .. Is not mentioned will this be a valid discrepancy to reject documents?

Yes.
In short LC wants the assured as abc co whereas Insurance shows consignee as abc co.
Consignee and assured are not the same term so I would treat this as a discrepancy.
However Please do check anywhere else have they mentioned Assured name?
And please do go through the entire wording of Insurance document fully once, to whom it is payable etc
