Advice LC

Post by Liberty6681 » Tue Aug 25, 2020 1:22 pm

Dear Experts,
My bank wants to issue LC to an X Bank, but with no RMA. Y Bank only has the RMA with Z Bank which is in the same country with X BAnk. My bank has the RMA with Y bank and Y Bank is willing to advice LC thru Z bank first, and Z is requested to advice to X Bank in th end.
We plan to issue the LC first to bank Y, but how do we say in 57D MT700 (Advice Through) ?can we say :
1. SWIFT CODE BANK Z, as the 2nd advising bank
2. SWIFT CODE BANK X, as the beneficiary bank.
so those two banks (bank Z and bank X) will be mentioned in 57D.
Your opinion does matter.

Hi Pal,

IMHO, bank X in field 57A
Bank X is the beneficiary's bank where, probably, the transaction is domicilied.
I think that the intermediary banks will try to contact the beneficiary directly
for marketing purpose.Swift Book no. 7, speaks of Receiver bank.
Other comments appreciated
Ciao

@Liberty6681
57A or 57D can only allow one bank according to SWIFT format.
It seems to me that the only way to proceed it is as follows.
Your bank sends a MT-700(indicates 57A or D as X bank) to Y bank asking for routing your MT-700 to Z bank via MT-710.

It would be a lot easier if your bank has RMA with Z.....
