The idea behind reciprocity is that if Bank X in the major trading centre chose Bank Y as its correspondent in, for example, the developing world, then Bank Y would reciprocate by ensuring that all international business originating in their bank for Bank X's country would be rooted through Bank Y as a reciprocal gesture
