A lc requires bl to state name and address of the carriers agent at the port of discharge.
However, the agent in bl can be at any location in the world. Why?

Probably not in the World
Hi Pal,
Carrier Agent may be located in every Town but actually act in the port of discharge. We, as bankers, have no idea if the agent of the carrier has a physical presence in every port. The inclusion of someone as carrier agent in the b/l suffice.
I think that some opinons shared my view.

Means we can ignore lc criteria for the agent to be at port of discharge?

BL CARRIER AGENT
No , if it is an LC condition , how can you ignore it ? Moreover , if the agent to be mentioned in the notify party field you have to get the address right. It is just that the address of the carrier agent can be anywhere in the world , he could be working through his proxies without physical presence on that particular port.
