Bill of lading shows dangerous good
I received a bill of lading for chemical products. The bl is marked with "dangerous goods". I have imported the same thing earlier but never saw so. Why is this bill marked so

Bill of lading vs. Air Way bill
Hi Pals,
Transport of Hazardous/Dangerous goods is internationally regulated, there is an ORANGE BOOK, stating all the rules to handle such HAZ MAT, OIL, etc. Orange labels and sign with Certain codes or numbers, UN Codes and Klemer codes ..... Normally these rules are not interesting the "Commercial part" of the transactions, but are part of transport contract, and in Air Way Bill must be indicated in the Handling Information Box. In ADR Rules, for road/rail transport a railcar or a lorry have an orange label with two numbers that classify the danger of transported goods and are a big help for rescuers, firefighters and responders in case of accident. However this is a little outside L/C practice.

pay attention
I agree with picant that the matter is outside the LC scope. However you may want to check with your security department if such goods are not the ones found on prohibited products list (i.e. ones that may be used for terrorism purposes) which may place your bank in a very difficult situation.

Hi Pals,
Christiand969 comment, IMHO, is more relative to "DUAL USE " goods rather than Hazardous/Dangerous goods. DUAL USE Goods are not very simple to be identified due to different codes with H.S.C. and only CUSTOMS could clearly determinate if, for istance, Shoes could be transformed in WEAPONS, according to the recent case of the Iraqi Juornalist against ex USA President Bush or an Oxford University student to a Chinese temporary joint teacher.

Dangerous goods
even if this phrase appears on any document it will not affect any commitments under the l/c . as long as this phrase appears on the packing list it may only an indication to the way of hadeling the goods only and can not be considered as a defecet in goods even if it appears in the transport document . khaled haggag

is it just warning??
dear participants
the B/L can not be a foul one if it is not stating that it has some defficiency
so the B/L stating that dangerous goods is a clean B/L...then... is it just warning or something??
