Goods Sold During Voyage

Post by dinesh2476 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 6:08 pm

Dear Experts,

please provide your opinion on the below highlighted. don't we have underlying LC for the below?

For example:
A sold goods during the voyage by endorsing goods to them or handing over the BL(blank endorsement) to B.

what is the payment mechanisim to get the payment from B?
How come A make sure payment from B?

B. The traditional bill of lading as a negotiable document is useful where the
goods are sold during the voyage.

Collections, l/c etc

Hi Pal,

Goods may be sold during a voyage from port of loading to port of discharge. Documents may be sent for collection on D/P or D/A basis or be a ground to issue an l/c with proper details. I think that the buyer will be confident with sellers, agents or middlemen. Some sellers, for particular goods, are obliged to ship them and sell them during the voyage.Sometime it happens that even the port of destination may be changed, switching the relative bill of lading...
Other comments appreciated

Yes PJ, From india.

I was wondering How come bill of lading be in sale during transit when applicant is looking for goods at the port of discharge under LC or even for the collection scenario, documents are held at applicant hand.

It's high seas sales...
A should raise the bill in the name of B - payment terms used as advance payment or Lc depends upon the relation ship which is obviously in INR...

Hi Sanjiv,

Can you help to understand the LC flow, you mean to say, beneficiary ships the goods and are in transit, they find a suitable buyer for the goods and open a LC for payment mechanism

or Lc depends upon the relation ship which is obviously in INR...

Regards
Dinesh
