conflicting information

Post by Nivas » Mon Nov 26, 2018 10:28 am

Hi
There were 2 times HS CODE mentioned in Certificate of Origin. One is mentioned correctly while the other one is wrongly mentioned in the same document.
Can we treat this as discrepant because HS CODE mentioned there conflicts? Or simply we ignore the wrong HS CODE and treat this as compliant? Plz need ur views.

Hi Pal,

Did the lc require HS Code? HS Code may be 4, 6, 8 or 10 digits, and lats digits may vary.

Hi Picant
Thanks for ur views.
yes. the lc require to mention hs code in all the required document including certificate of origin. And the hs code is of 8 digit. Its the first 4 digit of hs code is mentioned incorrectly. Is it discrepant? Need ur views.

Generally the first 4 digits are the most important as they place the goods under a specific category. The last 4 digits are for different products but under the same category within a custom tariff group. The 8 digits vs 4 digits function like a detailed good description. if the first four are correct, no discrepancy can be attached.
