Dear experts,
Please help me to understand if changes in goods description be allowed to be
made as referred below
MT700 LC has goods description as follows.
Shirts-1000
Red-250
Yellow-300
white-300
Orange-150
LC are to be advised multiple 2nd beneficiary(MT720)with a request as follows.
2nd Beneficiary A
Yellow-100
white-100
Orange-100
2nd Beneficiary B
Red-100
Yellow-50
white-50
Orange-25
2nd Beneficiry C
Red-100
Yellow-25
white-25
Orange-25
2nd Beneficiary D
Red-50
Yellow-125
white-125
Is it appropriate to make changes as requested by 1st beneficiary? though there is no supporting provisions in the UCP, Do we have any past instances experienced in advising it to 2nd Beneficiaries?
if we receive an amendment with an increase in the respective products. How can that be advised to multiple 2nd beneficiary's? Is the amendment to be advised to all the 2nd beneficiary as it is... or do modification in the amendment while sending it 2nd beneficiaries
Is transferring bank authorised to make changes other than listed down in article 38g assuming presentation happens at transferring bank counter and no situation would come to forward 2nd beneficiary documents directly to IB?
Thanks & Regards
Dinesh

Re: Transfer LC-Goods description.
The L/C presumably allows partial shipments. Therefore within each partial amount will be a partial quantity .
Regarding increase of qty by way of amendment please make use of art 38 e

Re: Transfer LC-Goods description.
Dear Cristiand969,
thanks.. but article e supports us to cover situation on handling amendments by expressing 1st beneficiary has to update us at the time of request for a transfer whether their consent is to be sought at the time of receipt of an amendments.
am wondering whether changes can be made in the MT720 as stated in my earlier post bypassing the generic statements that nominated under no obligation to transfer unless everything in their favor to handle it.
LC states 4 type of goods with different quantity requirements and 2nd Bene LC is being released with modification apart from the one allowed in the UCP. Is it appropriate to handle it in such way?
is it appropriate to split the amendments in the same way?
• Article 9 - Advising of Credits and Amendments
b. By advising the credit or amendment, the advising bank signifies that it has satisfied itself as to the apparent authenticity of the credit or amendment and that the advice accurately reflects the terms and conditions of the credit or amendment received.

Re: Transfer LC-Goods description.
As the art 9b says it is about the advising bank and not the transferring bank !
In the transfer of the credit or amendment it is impossible to have this clause in place
