I have a case brought up by a client who insists that field 42 of the LC issued in favour of them should read as Mixed payment instead of sight.
Payment conditions of the LC is as follows
Total contract : USD 60,000.00
LC opened for 48,000.00
Payment condition
- 20pct to be paid as an advance outside the LC through TT
- 70pct to be paid at sight against shipping documents
-10pct to be paid at sight against warranty certificate
Since the advance payment is made outside the LC we considered the lc on sight terms.
Need your opinion on this. should this be a mixed payment LC or sight
Clarification on field 42M ( Mixed payment )

Re: Clarification on field 42M ( Mixed payment )
Hi,
Payment outside L/C is no concern of L/C payment term, it will be additional information only. In this case 70 pct and 10 pct of payments are both to be made at sight basis. Mixed payment terms require more than 1 payment term. Therefore, SIGHT PAYMENT is correct.
However, using MIXED PAYMENT in this L/C will not make any difference in the payment term,
but only a simple mistake for me.
