Dear shahriar

I think issuing bank's intention is to discourage partial shipment.

Dear shahriar,
if mor than one set of bill of lading to be presented, issuing bank will check each set of bills of lading separately and this will take the time of the bank mor than when it check one set only. perhaps issuing bank wants to discourage the benef. of prasenting several set for above mentioned reason.

Dear All,

Another point needs to be considered. Is the shipment moved on FOB basis? If so, imposition of such charges may be detected by the importer to cover the extra cost to be imposed by shippinglines in the name of "charges collection fee". This may be but not sure, the underlying reason.

Thanks to all.............Mehdi

Dear Shariar:
I agree with Medi

I think the intention of the Issuing Bank is to minimize the cost burden and hassle of the Applicant. As Credit allows partial shipment so when beneficiary submits different sets of documents Applicant has to some extra cost (C&F cost, Custom tax, loading unloading Cost etc) even in C group incoterms which he should not bear incase of no partial shipment.
Another thing Issuing Bank may also care, it is charge,if charges outside issuing Banker counter have to be born by applicant, then in case of more times payment, Applicant A/C debited for some extra cost.
