Does the term port cover airport also in 44E?

Post by Sazzad » Mon Jan 10, 2022 2:02 pm

Hi all

Our buyer has issued an LC indicating both sea and air as allowed mode of shipment. at field 44E, port of loading, they mentioned "Any port in .......". My bank insists that this field should also include "Airport". they want the wording as follows: "For sea shipment: Any port in ......, for air shipment: Any airport in .....". My understanding is that port covers both sea port and airport. But my bank is quite insistent on mentioning both.

Can anyone please clarify who is right, me or my bank?

Regards

Hi Pal,

Swift book 7, cassifies field 44E port or airport, so if you have a MT700 with this code is for both way of transport, different if you have a MT700 indicating only port(or airport) this may cause disputes.
Other comments appreciated.
