number of modes of transport in a multimodal transport doc

Post by jabra » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:43 pm

UCP says that a multimodal transport document may be silent over the number of modes of transport used. Now say a LC calls for a multimodal transport document while shipment details are only shown in 44E and 44F. now if the document presented shows only port of loading and port of discharge and is silent over the number of modes of transport used, can we call the document complying disregarding the fact that the letter of credit might have been issued wrongly

if the transport document show only the port of loading and port of discharge its a bill of lading and should be reviewed under article 20. i am reluctant to imagine a scenario like sea-land-sea. its just not economical.
