If L/C calls for a B/L issued by ABC co., following issuers are correct:

1) ABC co , as a carrier, (with signature)
or 2) ABC co as a agent for XYZ co, as a carrier,
or 3) XYZ co as a agent for ABC co, as a carrier.

Other comments appreciated

ISBP 681 Paragraph 22.

If a credit indicates that a document is to be issued by a named person or entity, this condition is satisfied if the document appears to be issued by the named person or entity. It may appear to be issued by a named person or entity by use of its letterhead, or if there is no letterhead, the document appears to have been completed or signed by, or on behalf of the named person or entity.
I personally think that "issuer" of transport document is not important, however, the above paragraph of ISBP may be applied if a credit nevertheless stipulates like vivian's case.

With regard to the example 3) in mia's answer, I think such a B/L must be issued using ABC co's letterhead because it is signed by the party other than that the credit required.

More comments appreciated.

Hi Negotiator,

the same paragraph states ' .................... It may appear to be issued by a named person or entity by use of its letterhead, or if there is no letterhead, the document appears to have been completed or signed by, or on behalf of the named person or entity.'

Therefore, I think all 3 presentations described by Mia are acceptable. Any further comments?
