Dear All,

Import Policy Order (IPO) of Bangladesh allows import on FOB basis; existing guidelines of forex regulations also allows import in such way. Despite, major imports are conducted on CFR basis. Importer may save money through freight negotiation with shippinglines in case of FOB import. But such is not found. Is there any hidden benefit behind the CFR import? Could any one please explain the issue.

Dear Sir,
In case of FOB import, it is not convenient for the importer in Bangladesh to negotiate with the foreign shippinglines for the purpose u mentioned. Moreover preference was given in the IPO to import on CFR basis.
