Do all documents presented under a documentary credit have to quoted the documentary credit reference number?

This number is used mainly for parallelizm purposes and to have interconnection between documents within presentation.

So, if there is such a condition in LC - it's better to meet it in order to avoid formal refuse.

If there is no such a condition - it's upto you to decide.

there is no need to show l/c no. for there is neither such requirement in international banking practices and rules. According to UCP 14 (d) and (f), banks will accept such documents as presented provided their information content enables the goods and/or services rendered to in the documents to be related to those referred to the l/c.
from ICC Opinion R289[/b]Regarding the question of the L/C number missing from the rail waybill, it has been the previous opinion of the ICC that the requirement is only to assist in tracing documents should they go astray. Since the documents were received by the issuing bank, the absence of the reference number, which in itself neither adds nor detracts from the purpose of the document, would seem to be an irrelevance and not valid grounds for rejection.

To avoid disputes it is better to indicate lc number in the documents if credit requires so.
