i think we should read it like "or such later time or event ". this means any later time (for example any time after shipment etc.) or event (for example if unpaid by the applicant etc.)

In my opinion, the complete meaning should read as "Or such later time or event as the guarantee provides". For example, BG allows claim to be made only after xx.xxx.2012 or the breach of contract by BG applicant.
