Dear Jim,
.
A B/L should indicate the name of the carrier and be signed by
+ either carrier or a named agent for or on behalf of the carrier or
+ master or a named agent for or on behalf of the master.
.
Here, if the carrier is not defined on the document, B/L is not acceptable.
.
regards

Dear Jim,
There may be cases where the declaration shown by you in sufficient. Therefore we have to see that document. For example, I saw preprinted forms where in one boxes in written:
=========================
XXXX as carrier
by _____+______ as agent
===========================
Over the underline where I put the mark '+' is was typed YYYY company and then signed and stamped by the same.
The implication in this case is that the agent is the agent of the carrier.
So, document must be seen for the purpose of the establishing conformity.
