can someone help me how a through bl is different from the multimodal BL? is it only the mode of transport? what are the possible consequences if through bl is used for land transport?

Re: through bill of lading and multimodal bill of lading
dear mitra,
purely theoretically speaking, a through bill of lading is suppose to be used for sea transport only; for container shipment.
i am not sure about the possible problems of using a through BL in land transport. but i think a through BL while used for both land and sea transport together has no governing law unlike MMTD. so in case of need, the holder of the BL may not get much support
