Dear Dholat
Please note the following details:
Similarities between Multimodal and Through Bill of lading:
+ both involves at least 2 modes of transport
Differences:
Unlike the Multimodal BL where the carrier shown on document is responsible for the whole journey (from receipt to destination), a through B/L is single bill of lading covering receipt of cargo at a point of origin for delivery to an ultimate consignee, usually involving multiple carriers and multiple modes of transport.
Also each carrier is responsible for their leg of carriage.
.
However pls note that Through Bill of lading is not defined in UCP but it is not for the bank to seek is one or another, merely the documents to constitute a complying presentation as defined in art. 2 of UCP600.
.
As a matter of fact a through B/L usually does show on the face of docs (face showing vessel name) whether is through BL.
Hope it helps you.
regards
Cristian
