pals!!

UCP600 says,
If a credit requires presentation of copies of documents, presentation of either original or copies is permitted.
say a credit calls for a copy of bill of lading without any further qualification, will the original be accepted?

if yes, will it be examined under article 20 of UCP 600?

Dear Shahriar,
Art 20 of UCP 600 is applicable when there is an explicit REQUIREMENT in the credit for ORIGINAL BL.
You may want to note that in practice where there is a requirement for 3/3 original BL +3 copies, the signatory part does not generally appear nor B/L is signed. Furthermore, such copies does not contain conditions of carriage not only because there are rules established by international maritime laws but also because there is NO article in UCP articulating data content to exist in such NN copy.
