Dear all,
can any one give some explanation about terms of a L/C for purchasing a ship? is it different with a ordinary L/C ?

It is for the seller and buyer to establish such conditions in LC. The ship is equivalent with any other machine, equipment so I don't feel the LC will be different structure. However, given the fact that implies larger amount it may be possible that transaction to be established on an advance payment + mixed payment through LC.
I assume the carrier/owner of vessel will be the beneficiary of the LC.

i have seen such LCs. there was nothing especial. there was a no. of clauses related to engine detail. most of them were taken from the MOU. most of them are mixed payment. delivery terms are bit different.

But, the striking feature is that there is no BL in this transaction.
Thanks
