friends,

im in a big problem. actually irritated. two weeks back i received a document which was discrepant, i issued refusal and the presenting bank as usual remain silent. meanwhile the LC expired and the applicant refuse to release the document. so i sent a message informing the presenting bank that we will return the document unless waiver received from the applicant in 48 hours. now after two weeks the presenting bank is telling that the discrepancies i raised are not correct for bla bla reasons. i know im correct and therefore not worried about that. but what type of banking is this from the presenting bank? at last i decided that i will return the document tomorrow. by the way, can i demand the postage and discrepancy charges from the presenting bank?

there is no definite rule

there is no definite rule by when the presenting bank should revert with a protest of the raised discrepancies. they can do it therefore. however as far as you are correct, i see no reason to get irritated :)

i think you can demand discrepancy fee depending on the LC wording and surely the postage charge from the beneficiary's bank.
