Dear all,

I have studied a number of reading material from shipping industry where the identified house bill of lading as ones issued by a NVOC on the capacity of the contracting carrier. That means in the shipping industry house bill of lading bears equal status of operating carries bill of lading. But why I look into ISBP, I see that house bill of lading is always compared with the freight forwarder bill of lading signed at the capacity of the freight forwarder. I think ICC has introduced a concept which is not compatible with the shipping industry practice. What's your opinion?

its not new that there are many mismatches between the shipping industry and the banker. the point you noted out is right and wrong. because the issue on house bill of lading does not have any international standard. it changes with region. in fact the mostly used international conventions is silent on NVOCC. so ICC needs to reach a solution and also need to ensure that its easy for bankers.
