What is the clue here? Is there any advantage in using the "old" URDG?

I agree with picant, you can use them. However, from my perspective the 758 is far more accepted.

its just using snail mail instead of email/SWIFT. we can issue physical LCS in era of SWIFT. Nothing debars ..
