Dear Friend,

Please provide example on words/statement in LC for define shipment period.

"On or about
To,
Untill,
From,
Between,
Before,
After"

Also Maturity period.
The word " From , " after "

"On or about "* Shipment to be effected on or about 10 june 2008 - shipment may be effected on June 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15

"To"
* Latest shipment date is up to 5th July - then shipment may be on 5th JulyUntill,

"From"
* ....tons will be shipped from 12 October - then on October 12th, ....tons may be shipped.

"Between"
* shipment between 16 and 21 June - then shipment may be effected on both 16 and 21 June

"Before"
* .... tons to be shipped before 10 November - then the mentioned amount should be shipped latest on 9 November

"After"
* LC operative after 30 December - i.e. 30 December not included and will be operative on 31 December

For maturity

"From "
* Drafts at 10 days from shipment date, if shipment date 1 August then due date 11 August...

Dear All,

One of the Friend given good example of using word -From /Before etc as per article -3. I am giving idea to keep in remember which will find easy. It is always confusion for including date or excludes date mentioned.

Remeber word - Alpha bet - like A : AFTER ,B : Before : F : Means From etc.I am providing you same in table format.

Remember concept for Article -3

Word Period of Shipment Date of Maturity
AFTER Excluding Excluding
Before Excluding -
From Include Exclude

i use my simple theory

everything that is mentioned on UCP includes the date mentioned except before and after
before and after always excludes
and from excludes the date only in case of maturity
