Dear all,
Being a newbie in the field of L/C, I am asking for your guidance/input.
I have an L/C asking for "latest date of shipment May 15th, 2014 - transshipment allowed.
Due to limitations in port of receipt Huang Pu, China(ocean vessel not permitted to dock), material will be moved by feeder to main port of loading Hong Kong, China.
Feeder will sail May 12th, 2014 - Ocean vessel will sail May 16th, 2014
Which date will be binding for L/C? Feeder sailing date or Ocean vessel sailing date? What does UPC 600 art. 20 say about this? Information I get is confusing.
Some say that On board date of the main vessel or ocean vessel will be considered as the shipment date (as per Art 20 of UCP600)
Others say that Feeder date is first date of shipment and binding.
Appreciate your advise.
Thanks in advance.
Martin

Feeder sailing date
Hi,
Both UCP600 and ISBP745 don't talk about feeder sailing . So, the date of the bill of lading is the shipment date. In this case case, the latest shipment date of the L/C is 15May and the bill of lading date is 16May, so there is a late shipment.
Any comment

Feeder sailing dat
Thanks for info ... was hoping to hear that feeder sailing date would be the date that goods are shipped - after all, this is the liner choice (basically forced) to use feeder instead of loading on board ocean vessel directly due to port limitations/restrictions.
On feeder sailing date, goods are already shipped - my simplistic way of thinking. Both feeder and Ocean vessel are from same Liner.
For my understanding ... since transshipment is allowed, it would be better to load on a truck in Huang-Pu and drive to Hong Kong for further transport. In that way the departure of the Truck is shipping date. Am I thinking correctly?
Appreciate your feedback ... have a lot to learn (I know) but also trying to think logically.
Thanks again.

Martin

Shipment or transhipment.
Hi Pals,
IMHO, it depend on the credit terms and on the bill of lading.
If bill of lading is indication Huan Pu as port of loading and in the middle that the goods will transhipped at Hong Kong to vessel ......., if transhipent are allowed the bill of lading is ok:
Please insert copy of bill of lading!
Other comments appreciated
