Could you please explain what does NVOCC Bill of Lading mean?
What does NVOCC stands for?

Hi Pal,
NVOCC stands for Non Vessel Owner( or Operating) Common Carrier, so a contractual carrier and not a performing carrier. problems is that the rules guiding the transports do not make difference between a tru Carrier as MSC, Yang Ming etc, and the contractual carrier that arranges to obtain spaces(slots) on vessels to carry goods received from customers. If the issuer, NVOCC, engage itself as carrier, a bill of lading so signed cannot be refused in a l/c.
