i just noticed this one. In CDCS study guide, section 6221 it is written that if the journey is by land sea land, then a negotiable bill of lading will be issued.

but in 6222 it is written that if the final part of the journey is not by sea, then the transport document will not be a negotiable one. :roll: what did i miss?

According to the book, it states " where the journey is land/sea/land, the multimodal transport document is usually issued as a combined/multimodal transport bill of lading".

thanks for the reply. meantime i developed my own theory. please validate.

if the journey by sea ends at the port of importing country, then the bill of lading will be negotiable even if the last leg is by land. but if the sea journey ends at a port which is not the country of import and infact a port of transhipment, then the bill of lading is not negotiable.

now this theory has some problem. im not sure what will be the answer if the last leg is by air even if its within the country of import. however its quite unlikely that a goods that traveled by ship will end up its journey by air. :?
