Dear All,
pls make comment on the following analysis:

Signing of Multimodal Transport Documents :
71(b).
If the master (captain) signs the multimodal transport document, the signature of the master (captain) must be identified as "master" ("captain"). "In this event, the name of the master (captain) need not be stated". [Emphasis Added]

Signing of Bills of Lading:

94 (b). If the master (captain) signs the bill of lading, the signature of the master (captain) must be identified as "master" ("captain"). In this event, "the name of the master (captain) need not be stated."[Emphasis Added]

Signing of Charter Party Bills of Lading

118(a). If the master (captain), charterer or owner signs the charter party bill of lading, the signature of the master (captain), charterer or owner must be identified as "master" ("captain"), "charterer" or "owner".

From the above quote, we can see that in case of sign by a master of CPBL, the line ""the name of the master (captain) need not be stated."[Emphasis Added]" is not stipulated in the ISBP.

What is the implification of it, Does it mean that If a CPBL sign by the master, the name of the master must be mentioned on the document?
Waiting for reply
thanks

01. If we cosider transport document relared article of UCP-600 i.e article19-25, all the articale mention that the name of the carrier must be there except Charter Party BL.

02.Non of these article mention about the requirment of name of the master on transport document when an agent signing on it.

03. But article-22(a)(i) mention that " An agent signing for or on behalf of the owner or charterer must indicate the name of the owner or charterer."

04. So, what is required to mantion on transport document is clearly stated in article-22 and ISBP.

05. From above discussion we can iffered that on Charter Party BL the name of master need not indicate.

Thanks.
