Instalment drawings or shipments

Post by saguna2018 » Fri Jul 27, 2018 8:57 pm

Hi,

Taking the e.g. from Para C15
"....credit requiring shipment of 100 cars in March and 100 cars in
April is an example of two periods of time that start on 1 March and 1 April and end on 31
March and 30 April respectively."
1) If partial shipment is allowed, can the beneficiary ship 150 cars in March and 50 Cars in April?
2) If not allowed, does the L/C cease to be available for next installments as per C15a(i)?

Thanks
SGN

Hi Pal,

partial shipment may be allowed or restricted to 2 sending in in march and 1 in april.
By sending 150 cars in march the credit is overavailed, but remains valid for 100 cars to be shipped further,
if the first set of documents will be accepted, the issuing bank would clarify that the l/cbalance is reduced to 50 cars and to relative amount.
Other comments needed and appreciated
Ciao
