Goods in insurance documents

Dear experts,. When insurance is all about covering loss for the goods damaged..... why UCP is silent about goods details in insurance documents...why is it not mandatory for the insurance docs to show goods

Hi,
As per UCP600, 14e, description of goods in other than invoice (if stated) may be in general terms not conflicting with the description stated in the credit. UCP seems to takes invoice and other documents separately regarding goods description. This article permits documents other than invoice even not to state description of goods. However,
insurance documents always ( and in my opinion must), by its nature, include the desription of goods under different titles such as "interest insured", " subject matter insured", etc. Therefore, in my opinion, we shall always see description of goods on insurance.
Other comments will be appreciated.

The fact that UCP does not require a detailed description of the goods seems to me quite reasonable . In fact the insurance company insures and undertakes to cover a C/VALUE of goods as reflected in an invoice and not to produce and return to insured party a certain merchandise that was lost.
By comparation with a bill of lading that is a proof of the receipt of a certain merchandise, since UCP does not require details of goods on transport document( the carrier has a disclaimer such as 'said to contain' although he carries the goods) it is difficult to believe that an insurance company has more obligation to identify each itemized description of goods. To repeat myself, Insurance companies undertake to cover a loss by reimbursing an amount as reflected in invoice and not a lot of goods lost in transit.
