my customer's LC is supposed to pay me 40 days after bill lading. however due to possible delays i will recieve original documents late and by the time i present to bank it may be more than 40 days. in this case do I have discrepancy? how will bank fix the maturity date? upon receipt?
Lc allows me to make presentation after 21 days.

Hi Pal,

Being no native speaker, probably I misunderstood your problem.
Payment 40 days after bill of lading's date means that you have to present documents
within presentation period, that may be extended to x days, and paid later(deferred
payment).
Please explain?

As far as docs is concerned, maturity it is less important but of critical one presentation period. In this respect , docs presented after 21 days will be regarded as discrepancy. Regarding the maturity date, if this has already passed , you will be paid at sight as it cannot be possible back value for your docs
