CITF - Certificate in International Trade and Finance

Hi all,

I recently found out about CITF - Certificate in International Trade and Finance. Just trying to understand the difference between this and CDCS. Because it seems the latter does not have much information as compared to the former. And what are the career prospects / what kind of job scope or role is each certification linked or associated to?

Hi everyone,

I just found out from some trade finance colleagues that CITF seems to be the intermediary step towards CDCS - that is, one should perhaps go for CITF to get some ground knowledge before going onto CDCS.

But still we are not too sure and do not have more information around this. Appreciate any kind response on this. Thanks!

Hi,
I suggest first go for the CITF exam and then go for CDCS, coz CITF will give you a better hang up in answering tricky questions asked in CDCS, also you will be able to save time and set the time limit for answering each questions.

Further to the posts shown here, alternatively if you feel confident enough, sit the CDCS first. CITF is more about the background of Trade, the Trade Cycle etc but does touch on collections and L/Cs. CDCS is a lot more about the theory of L/Cs, collections and Standby L/Cs.

If you are successful in the CITF exmaination, it will go towards half of your PDU recertfication points for the CDCS exam.

CDCS is a deep digging in a documentary credits topic.
CITF is a general overview of all trade finance products, invironment - it's like a little bit of everything (credits, collections, bonds, exchange rates, fraud, global environment, financing, well know organizations like Atradius, COFACE, EXIM).
CDCS - document checker, CITF - client's adviser, TF specialist.

Whether the question will be in the articles (URC AND ISP) or general trade questions

The book has not contain detailed article like CDCS however it has articles
I am not sure on this. Please advice if any has experience on this.

Before you take up the exam you will be provided with the specimen paper by IFS learning.

CDCS is coving the technical part related to international trade and useful for those who is working in trade operation as day to day business but CITF is covering the business part with come technicality and it help those who may involve in international trade in order to enhance their understanding
