ISBP Paragraph A34)
(a) Transport documents covering containerized goods often only show a container number, with or without a seal number, under the heading “Shipping mark” or similar. Other documents that show a more detailed marking will not be in conflict for that reason.
If LC requires a shipping mark, can the BL show only container number?

B/L show shipping marks as container no. only
Dear friends,
Yes, I think that's what ISBP745 para A34a emphasized- the B/L only shows container numbers under the heading "shipping mark" is acceptable even LC requires shipping mark XYZ for example.
Regards,

To my understanding
To my understanding this ISBP article tells that containers numbers and seals numbers will be shown usually under shipping marks, but it didn't state that this is acceptable in replacement of the shipping marks required under the DLC.
Please correct me if am wrong.

Shipping mark on B/L when LC required
Dear all,
I think this matter causes much argument as the language of ISBP is not very clear. A 32 states clearly in case that LC requires, but A34 is only saying the comparation between B/L and other docs. As opinion I obtain from a specialist, in case that LC is silence, then B/L shows container No while other docs shows more detail is OK. But is case LC stipulates shipping mark clearly, then all docs must comply with LC. I am still confused about this simple-seemed matter.

LC Requires A Shipping Mark, BL Show Only Container Number
when the shipment is shipped FCL, the carrier or its agents do not see the goods so they can not tell the shipping marks on the packages.
they can use the container number on the transport documnts as per ISBP745 para A34a "shipping mark" is acceptable even LC requires shipping mark XYZ for example.
