Can a Flight date on an AWB be prior to its Issuance Date

Post by murteza » Tue May 19, 2009 11:18 pm

Dear all,
Once again I am here to know your opinion and views on the following:-

Can a Flight stamp on an Airway Bill be dated Prior to its Issuance Date Let me provide an example for you ,suppose
AWB issuing date is 19/May/2009
Flight Stamp date is 17/May/2009.
.
Is this AWB is acceptable for a Issuing bank ? Since UCP-600, does not specify anything about this but do specify about the Bs/L.
.
I invite your opinion..
.
Best regards
S.Murteza :)

I guess it is reasonably to treat the same as bill of lading because you have to separate these 2 things:
- the effective flight date (the facts - dispatching)
- the date of AWB issuance.(the proof of above by a AWB issuance )
.
I see no discrepancy in this and I can treat it also as a pre-shipment certificate issued after the on board notation but bearing a statement that inspection took place prior to loading.

C
