dear all,
if a BL shows two vessel name, one related to place of receipt and another related to port of loading and the master signs the BL, is it necessary to mention the name of the master's vessel given that the shipped on board notation is ok.

u can understand it logically. say the master is from the vessel of the place of receipt. so he could maximum say that the cargo has been shipped on board at the place of receipt. but that will make the BL discrepant. only the master of the vessel of the port of lading can say that the cargo has been shipped at the port of loading. if you say that the shipped on board notation complies, then the master is from the second vessel

I differ from your opinion.
Leaving apart the LC, a transhipment in port of loading is practically effected during the carriage from the port of receipt up to the destination. On the other hand the Bill of lading in question must clearly show to comply with LC : Shipped on board M/V XXX at port of loading YYY, aa/bb/2008 without being necessay to show the party who made this on board notation.
Please keep in mind that party responsible for entire carriage is not the master of first or second vessel but the CARRIER.
