Hi All,

In LC field 39A has given as 5pct tolerance, that means it will reflects only in amount or both amount and quantity?

Hi,

Tolerance applies only to amount in field 39A, as per UCP 600,30 a.

In order it to apply also to quantity, it should be added clearly in field 45A to quantity or in field 47A accordingly.

When L/C bears tolerance in field 39A but no tolerance in quantity and/or unit price (in case they exist in field 45A),
I recommend to contact issuing bank to request clarification as it is imposible to apply tolerance only to amount.

As per article 30 a is not saying about that......
Article 30 a is talking if the words mentioned in credit "about" or "approximately" it allows only 10% not exceed that.

a. The words "about" or "approximately" used in connection with the amount of the credit or the quantity or
the unit price stated in the credit are to be construed as allowing a tolerance not to exceed 10% more or
10% less than the amount, the quantity or the unit price to which they refer.
