Re: FORWARDER B/L
Dear Zakir Bhai,
If a credit asked for a freight forwarder bill of lading then this bill of lading must complied with sub article 20 except the following two thing:
1. this bill of lading may be signed by the fright forwarder as the capacity of freight forwarder and
2. the name of the carrier need not to be appear on its face.
the following ISBP paragraph will also in line with above:
according to paragraph 95 of ISBP:
If a credit states "Freight Forwarder's Bill of Lading is acceptable" or uses a similar phrase, then the bill of lading may be signed by a freight forwarder in the capacity of a freight forwarder, without the need to identify itself as carrier or agent for the named carrier. In this event, it is not necessary to show the name of the carrier.
So carrier name not appear on a freight forwarder bill of lading is o.k. but:
In your bill of lading the DEF signed as agent without mentioned on whose behalf it acting.
I think this bill of lading is discrepent.
Am i wrong, if yes pls correct me.
regards
nesar

Re: FORWARDER B/L
Hi,
It appears that DEF, a local company, is acting as agent of ABC (foreign principal). If there is a valid agreement between them and the same is approved under 18-A of FER Act, 1947, there will exist no problem to sign BL (HBL) within the capacity of a FF on the part of DEF.
